Gavalochori

Gavalochori is a village situated in the Apokoronas area of Crete, It is located on Cape Drapan, not far from the sea side resort of Almirida. It can be reached on the Almirida - Gavalochori - Vamos route. is named after the Byzantine family of Gavalodon.Gavalochori is a village with historical importance and interesting samples of vernacular architecture. The old houses of the village are renovated with respect to their original form and the new ones are built based on the local architecture and character. The village of Gavalohori, with its superb tavernas and coffee shops , while the blue flag beaches of Kalyves and Almyrida are a few minutes away by car.
